No Split: Mani Ratnam Goes with AR Rahman

Speculation about a possible break between Mani Ratnam and his long-time collaborator A. R. Rahman has now been firmly put to rest.

Rahman will be composing Ratnam’s next film, which features Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, marking Mani Ratnam’s first collaboration with both actors.

Recently, there were rumors that the filmmaker was considering a younger composer like Sai Abhyankar, ending his 30-plus years of association with AR Rahman.

Sai Abhyankar shot to fame with Pradeep Ranganathan’s “Dude” and is currently composing music for Atlee – Allu Arjun’s film.

But Mani Ratnam put an end to rumors and continued with Rahman for his next film as well.

Following the underperformance of Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam appears to be moving quickly to mount his next project without a break.

The film will be jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, with Sony Music India securing the audio rights.
