Mr P on P-Square Rift: Over $1.2m royalties diverted into hidden account

by · The Eagle Online

Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P of the defunct Afrobeats duo, PSquare, has released a detailed four-part video series exposing financial misconduct within the group, claiming over $1.2 million in music royalties were secretly diverted into a hidden account.

The long-standing family and professional feud between the twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), alongside their elder brother and former manager Jude Okoye, has intensified with these new public revelations and ongoing legal battles.

In the latest episode of his tell-all series, Mr P alleged that he discovered he was no longer a signatory to the Northside Entertainment bank account while attempting to obtain the company’s statement of account.

The singer said his subsequent investigation raised further questions over the handling of royalties generated from P-Square’s music.

According to him, he discovered transactions involving music aggregators and alleged that royalty payments were being split without his knowledge or consent.

Mr P questioned why he was not informed about the funds and the arrangements surrounding their distribution.

He further alleged that following P-Square’s breakup in 2017, royalties that ought to have been paid into Northside Entertainment were instead redirected to another entity known as Northside Music.

The singer claimed that documents he came across showed that more than $1.2 million in royalties had been paid into the Northside Music account between 2017 and 2023.

Mr P insisted that he had not consented to the arrangement and said he sought explanations from Jude Okoye after discovering the alleged discrepancies.

He claimed, however, that he did not receive satisfactory answers.

The singer also recounted his attempts to speak with his twin brother, Paul, saying he tried to convince him that something was wrong before their relationship deteriorated further.

Mr P stressed that his decision to publicly discuss the matter was not aimed at destroying anyone but was his attempt to tell his side of the story after remaining silent for years.
