Tinubu hails Osikoya, Awolowo on Black Market Guinness record
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlinePresident Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on their achievement of the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.
The record was achieved on September 26, 2026, during a screening of Black Market in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu celebrated the filmmakers for their creativity, enterprise and ambition.
The statement partly read: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulates Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios on achieving the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.

“The record was achieved with the screening of Black Market in Lagos on September 26, 2026. President Tinubu celebrates the filmmakers for their creativity, enterprise and ambition, describing their achievement as further evidence of the extraordinary talent driving Nigeria’s creative industry.”
Tinubu also linked the achievement to the broader growth of Nigeria’s creative economy, saying the sector was creating opportunities for Nigerian talent and taking the country’s culture to audiences around the world.
