Nigerian actress bags lead role in new Bollywood series

The project was officially unveiled on Monday by executive producer Hamisha Daryani Ahuja.
According to her, the comedy-drama series will see Ighodaro star alongside Bollywood actor and model Rajniesh Duggall in a story centred on love, family secrets and a cross-cultural romance.
While announcing the production via Instagram, Ahuja described Imported Bahu as the first vertical micro-drama series from her production company, Forever 7 Entertainment.
“For months, we’ve been keeping a secret. Today, we’re finally sharing it,” she wrote. “Introducing Imported Bahu — Forever 7 Entertainment’s first vertical micro-drama series.
“A story of love, family, secrets, and one Imported Bahu who turns everything upside down.”
The producer also revealed that the series features Ighodaro and Duggall in lead roles and will premiere on July 2, 2026, exclusively on LebaraPlay, described as Africa’s first telecom-owned micro-drama platform.
Ahuja, who is widely recognised for fostering collaborations between Nollywood and Bollywood, previously produced notable projects such as Namaste Wahala and Postcards.
The new series is expected to continue her efforts to bridge African and Indian storytelling through culturally diverse productions.
Ighodaro’s casting marks another significant milestone in her career, further expanding her presence on the international entertainment scene.

The actress has earned acclaim for her performances in film and television, as well as her work as a television presenter and former beauty queen.
The trailer for Imported Bahu has already been released ahead of its July debut, generating anticipation among fans of both Nollywood and Bollywood productions.
