Beirut, Lebanon

Ambulances arrive at the American University of Beirut Medical Center as more than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were wounded when the pagers they use to communicate exploded across Lebanon. Hezbollah vowed revenge for the unprecedented attack, which Israel has been accused of carrying out by planting explosives inside thousands of pagers imported by the group months earlier.

Israel

Israeli soldiers evacuate injured people by helicopter after an anti-tank missile was fired into northern Israel from Lebanon. Israel will expand its war goals to include the return home of northern residents who were evacuated because of attacks by Iran-backed Hezbollah launched from Lebanon, according to the prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Traversara, Italy

People are evacuated by Italian air force helicopters during floods in the small village of Traversara. Two people are missing and about 1,000 have been evacuated from their homes after devastating floods and landslides hit the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, prompting accusations that Giorgia Meloni’s far-right government lacks the will to confront the climate crisis.

Stronie Śląskie, Poland
