A British tourist staying at a hotel in Chania, Crete, left the property after what he described as a mosquito invasion and then asked for his money back.

The unusual case came to the attention of the authorities in Crete after the tourist decided to leave the hotel following a series of mosquito bites.

The incident occurred about a month ago. According to Kyriakos Kotsoglou, an appointed adviser to the Region of Crete, who spoke to the newspaper Patris, the tourist did more than simply complain about the incident.

Immediately after leaving the hotel, he sent a photograph showing his leg covered in mosquito bites. He also asked the authorities to consider whether he should receive a partial or full refund of the money he had paid for his accommodation.

The British tourist reportedly argued that the bites had significantly affected his psychological wellbeing.

He claimed that he felt extremely distressed and said that the mosquito bites had effectively ruined his holiday.

The case attracted attention because of the nature of the compensation request. The tourist sought the return of his accommodation costs after leaving the hotel because mosquitoes had bitten him during his stay.

The incident stands out as an unusual complaint involving a tourist accommodation and a request for a refund linked specifically to mosquito bites.
