Greek Cinema Day Returns with €3 Tickets Across Greece

by · Greek City Times

Greece’s annual Cinema Day returns on Thursday, October 29, offering moviegoers nationwide admission to their film of choice for just €3. The initiative, first launched in 2022, has attracted audiences across the country and gives cinema fans another opportunity to enjoy films at a reduced price.

This year’s programme includes popular films from the current season, five new releases opening during the cinema week beginning on Thursday, and a selection of box-office hits, acclaimed dramas and family films.

Among the new releases are Moulin: The Resistance Fighter, the latest historical drama by acclaimed Hungarian director László Nemes, starring Gilles Lellouche, and Eagles of the Republic, a political thriller by director Tarik Saleh featuring Fares Fares.

Audiences can also watch Made for Her, a romantic comedy starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård; My Father’s Shadow, a moving drama from Nigeria; and Coyote vs. Acme, which pits the beloved cartoon character against human greed.

The programme also features earlier releases and major box-office successes, including the superhero blockbuster Avengers: Endgame and Christopher Nolan’s epic film The Odyssey.

For audiences seeking more artistic cinema, the selection includes Digger, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring an unrecognisable Tom Cruise, as well as Suddenly, a poetic and moving drama by Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

Young audiences will also have plenty of options, with family and animated films including Forgotten Island, Minions & Monsters, PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, Toy Story 5 and Tad and the Magic Lamp.

A Christmas classic returns to cinemas

Adding an early festive touch, Frank Capra’s classic It’s a Wonderful Life returns to cinemas in a special anniversary re-release marking 80 years since its premiere.

Starring the legendary James Stewart in one of the most significant roles of his career, the film remains a celebrated story about greed, solidarity and the value of human connection.

With new releases, blockbuster favourites, independent cinema and family entertainment on offer, Cinema Day gives audiences across Greece the chance to enjoy the big screen for a flat €3 admission.
