A rare video from the teenage years of the late Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis has emerged, showing the artist singing at the age of 18 during a school event.

The previously unpublished footage captures Mazonakis performing a hit by renowned Greek singer Yiannis Parios while still a student, years before he established himself as one of Greece’s leading popular singers.

The emotional video was published on Thursday by Apostolos Kazakidis, a former schoolmate of Mazonakis from Nikaia, the Athens-area neighbourhood where the singer grew up and spent his school years.

The footage offers a rare glimpse of Mazonakis at the beginning of his musical journey, before his professional career brought him widespread recognition in Greece.
