Vijayanagar MUDA Ground, a haven for boozers

Mysuru: The sports ground constructed by Mysuru Development Authority (MDA), earlier Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), on Kannada Sahitya Parishat Road at Vijayanagar 1st Stage to conduct sporting activities has become a haven for illegal activities.

While sporting activities take place during day, the ground becomes a place for boozers during dark.    

Residents of Vijayanagar, Hebbal and surrounding localities come to this ground for their morning and evening walks daily. If one goes around the ground, empty beer bottles, PET bottles, plastic covers, plastic tumblers and plates can be seen strewn all over the place making it an unhygienic place.

Those who guzzle beer at night times, throw the empty bottles sometimes breaking the glass bottles which could injure anyone. It is not just one or two bottles that can be found but crates of empty bottles are found strewn all over the ground.

There are residences and hostels opposite the ground and boozers enjoy their drink without fear sometime embarrassing the residents and students. It has become difficult for women, children and students to move on this road after dark due to drunkards.

Though such an activity is taking place every day, the Police seems to have turned a blind eye towards it and there is no night patrolling too, allege residents, who have urged the authorities concern to look into this issue immediately.
