Veena concert at Mysore Vasudevacharya’s house

Mysuru: Vidu. Shailaja Srinath, a passionate artiste from Bengaluru, will be presenting a veena concert at the residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya in city tomorrow (Sept. 20).

She is being accompanied by Vid. M.R. Manjunath on mridanga, Vid. K.S. Prasanna on ghata and Vid. M.J. Kiran Kumar on khanjira. Vid. R. Raveendra will provide the Tambura support.

The concert, scheduled to start at 10.30 am, is open to all.

Profiles

An architect by profession, Vidu. Shailaja has done her Vidwat in Veena and Pre-Vidwat in Vocal from Karnataka Secondary Education Board.  She has been a student of Vid. Shankaranarayan, Dr. Suma  Sudhindra and Vidu. Bhagyalakshmi Chandrashekar.

She has also learnt vocal music under Malathi Narasimhamurthy and Dr. Nagamani Srinath. She has performed widely over the State, including in the International Music Festival in Bengaluru and at Mysore Palace during Dasara. She has been teaching veena and vocal for over ten years. She is also involved in research in Music Therapy, focusing on ‘ragas to manage Type-2 Diabetes’ and on links between music, architecture and wellness.

Vid. Manjunath, son and disciple of Vid. M.R. Rajappa, is a senior percussionist with nearly five decades of stage experience.

Vid. Kiran, son and disciple of Vid. M.S. Jayaram and Vid. Prasanna, who has learnt under P.G. Lakshminarayana and Prof. Ramanujan, are both percussionists with substantial stage experience.
