A chance to watch the story of life unfold is on offer this weekend during a unique immersive experience at The Glasshouse which will combine dramatic film footage and a live score played by Royal Northern Sinfonia.

The audio-visual event, Life on our Planet in Concert, will play out at the Gateshead music centre on Sunday in what promises to be a remarkable natural history event that has been described as 'a symphony of life on Earth'. And there are still some tickets available to book.

The show - visiting The Glasshouse's Sage One as part of a six-stop national tour - will feature highlight scenes, shown on on a big screen, - from Netflix original documentary Life on Our Planet in Concert, involving executive producer Steven Spielberg and creators Our Planet. The new eight-part series, created by Silverback Films with Spielberg’s Amblin Television, is narrated by Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman and tells of Life's epic battle to conquer and survive on planet Earth.

Accompanied by The Glasshouse's in-house symphony orchestra who will be playing its score live, Sunday's show will take the audience on a four-billion-year journey from the first single-celled life form to the first animals to move from sea to land and then to the first creatures to take flight. The tour is arriving from Birmingham and other locations to come include Manchester and then Glasgow before the tour wraps up at the Barbican in the capital on October 17 accompanied by London Symphony Orchestra.

The 90-minute show is set to bring to life the likes of fossils in 'photo-real' fashion on screen while the journey will also take in dinosaurs, extinctions, and the rise of the most dangerous animal in the age of the mammals: man. Lorne Balfe, who composed the score for the musical experience, said: “It’s exciting to be able to bring the score for Life On Our Planet to the live audience.

"It’s a journey through billions of years, a concept of life and breath and music that will connect you to every step of the way." For tickets to the October 6 show see here.
