The sun was out for Louis Tomlinson on Saturday afternoon and so were his fans, with the Main Stage absolutely packed for his brilliant set. And, as the One Direction star made his solo Big Weekend debut, we were there to capture the moment with some great pictures.

Louis first appeared at Big Weekend along with the rest of 1D back in 2014, but on Saturday he took to the stage all on his own to play to a captive audience who gathered in temperatures of over 20 degrees to see him. Louis followed the likes of Ellie Goulding and Skye Newman onto the Main Stage just after 4pm and began his set with the very catchy Lemonade.

Ahead of Louis taking to the stage, the Radio 1 team predicted he might do a One Direction tune or two and while there only ended up being one, his rendition of Night Changes prompted a mass singalong from the huge crowd. Other songs in Louis' Big Weekend set in Sunderland included Out of My System, Kill My Mind and his brand new single Sunflowers.

The audience of all ages went absolutely wild for him, with some of them right at the very front holding up banners for him and some even clutching the old 1D dolls. Towards the end of his set and with the sun beating down on Herrington Park, Louis summed up what a lot of people were thinking, as he remarked: "What a f***ing beautiful day for a festival!"
