11 stunning shots of Zara Larsson as Lush Life singer headlines Big Weekend in Sunderland

While there were some great acts on all three stages throughout the day, Saturday of Big Weekend in Sunderland truly belonged to one act. Step forward pop icon Zara Larsson, who more than proved her headliner status by delivering a brilliant set, that we just so happened to be there to photograph.

After the likes of MK, Sonny Fodera and Fatboy Slim got things off to a great start on Friday, the pressure was on for the day two acts to follow their lead and deliver another great day of live music. Thankfully that's exactly what the near 30,000 strong crowd ended up getting. Sets from Ellie Goulding and Skye Newman started proceedings in style on the Main Stage, while there was a real local feel to the line-up on BBC Introducing, as the likes of Swindled and Tom A.Smith performed.

Following star turns from Louis Tomlinson (and his surprise cover of 1D's Night Changes!), Nothing But Thieves and Lola Young, who gave the day one of its most memorable moments when her performance of Messy prompted a mass singalong; the sun started to set over a very warm Herrington Country Park, in time for Swedish superstar Zara to make her entrance.

And, as soon as stepped on stage, after an introduction from Radio 1's Greg James and Vick Hope, she meant business and served up banger after banger, starting with Midnight Sun and then going into Blue Moon and her 2023 hit Can't Tame Her. Given its resurgence as a global TikTok trend, the song many people were waiting for was Lush Life and when it arrived, Zara had some assistance from super fan Kayleigh who she picked from the crowd to join her for its famous dance break.

Zara ended up set in fine style with Symphony, the song she and Clean Bandit took to number 1 in 2017, before the large crowd started to make their way home, many to return just 12 hours later for the third and final day of Big Weekend. Check out our stunning shots of Zara below...
