Chelsea mega-offer addressed – Record breaking bid may be negotiation games

by · Sport Witness

On Monday, claims from the UK reported Chelsea’s interest in Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior.

The Blues were presented as plotting a massive bid of around €160m to secure his services. This would surpass the British record fee over €140m invested by Liverpool to sign Alexander Isak last summer.

El Desmarque looks at these claims of Chelsea and his situation at Real Madrid.

The Brazil international has less than 18 months left on his contract. Without a renewal, the summer window will be Real Madrid’s last big chance to capitalise from his sale.

El Desmarque spoke to Brazilian journalist Leonardo Bertozzi to discuss the latest Chelsea links and his contract situation.

He claims the 25-year-old has decided against signing an extension with Los Blancos. This should please the Blues. However, the journalist explains that claims of Chelsea plotting a mega bid are just speculation for now.

“The Chelsea offer, for now, is just speculation,” he said.

“It’s clear that the longer Vinicius waits to renew, the more talk there will be about his future because he only has 18 months left on his contract.

“The most logical thing if he doesn’t sign is for him to be sold this year because Real Madrid wouldn’t let him reach the end of his contract and leave for free.”

This season, the attacker has five goals and eight assists from 25 matches under Xabi Alonso’s orders.

Chelsea chances depend on manager situation

The journalist claims there’s a good chance of Vinícius committing his future to the La Liga winners if they part ways with Alonso.

“There’s one thing, everything can change. It’s not entirely certain that Xabi Alonso will stay at Real Madrid. If they lose the Spanish Super Cup, his future will be up in the air,” Bertozzi explained.

“If a new coach arrives, I’d say Vinicius’s chances of staying at Real Madrid could change. For now, I can say that Vinicius doesn’t want to renew his contract, as there are still doubts about his relationship with Xabi Alonso.”

Chelsea and other top clubs could continue to monitor Vinícius’ situation at Real Madrid. For now, claims of a record-breaking bid from the Blues may be a negotiation tactic. His camp could use the London club to put pressure on Los Blancos to secure an improved deal.

Vinícius’ club teammate, Rodrygo, is attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester City. Real Madrid will have a decision to make if both are looking for a way out of the club.

Meanwhile, Coluna do Fla reported Chelsea’s Deivid Washington is attracting interest from Brazil.
