Young Knives have announced a new album titled ‘Landfill’, as well as a 2025 UK tour. Find out more below, as well as new single ‘Dissolution’.

Announced today (October 7), the new album will mark the sixth from the band and their first new record since 2020’s ‘Barbarians’.

According to a new press release, the album sees the band contemplating the nature of their existence, and having their vision fixed on how they can best catalogue it through the music.

“It’s a record about letting things go before they are taken from you, including the carefully curated images of ourselves. Embracing everything the world throws at you and not taking it to heart,” explained vocalist Henry Dartnall.

Produced by the band in their Oxfordshire studio and mixed by Mike Lindsay of Tuung, the album is today teased with the lead single ‘Dissolution’. The song has been described as “deep and fun” by the band, and is also inspired by Hitchiker’s Guide To The Galaxy quote: ‘Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so’.”

“I love ideas like this. What an amazing way to present such a deep idea but also make it fun. I just wanted to experiment with doing our version of that. You can’t force ideas on people, you can just suggest them and leave them hanging in a way that people might one day consider if they feel like it,” the frontman added.

“This song is kind of dumb. The words are about the dissolution of the ego or ego death; a thing that appears in Eastern religions and was written about in Joseph Campbell’s A Hero’s Journey […] The problem is that writing and performing rock music is very much rooted in the world of the ego, so the idea of my big ego mouth shouting words about ego death is ridiculous. But then I thought that contradiction was kind of fun too.”

‘Landfill’ is set for release on January 24. Check out the lead single above, and pre-order the album here.
