‘You’ actor Tom Francis auditioning to play James Bond, report reveals

Casting is officially underway to find Daniel Craig's successor

You actor Tom Francis has reportedly auditioned to play the role of James Bond as casting gets underway.

Last week, it was officially confirmed that the process to find Daniel Craig’s successor as the spy was happening, with veteran casting director Nina Gold overseeing proceedings.

“The search for the next James Bond is underway,” Amazon MGM said. “While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

It is now being reported by Variety that Francis, who has also appeared on stage in Sunset Boulevard with Nicole Scherzinger, has auditioned, though his reps had no comment in response.

He joins a list of stars that are rumoured to be in contention for the coveted role, including Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Earlier this year, Turner refused to comment on talk around him, telling a journalist at the Berlin Film Festival asking him about how he deals with the rumours: “You’re right, it’s very early for that question. I’m not going to comment on it. Thanks.”

Hopeful Tom Blyth also addressed speculation back in February, telling Metro: “I grew up on those films so that would be lovely. I don’t see it happening, but of course that would be lovely. It’s a great story and I grew up with all those actors who played him.”

Amazon took over creative control of the franchise last year from long-term producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. It has since been confirmed that Dune’s Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond film, with Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight writing the screenplay.

Elsewhere, Olivia Dean recently emerged as a bookies’ favourite to sing the next Bond theme following a breakthrough year in 2025. However, Charli XCX has played down her chances of doing the next theme, admitting she doesn’t think she’s “built” for it, while Yungblud has said he’d love to record a Bond song with Oasis.
