The new year is fast approaching, and if you're worried about the dreaded January blues, fear not, I have a solution – why not distract yourself by diving into the pool of new Hulu movies?
One of our best streaming services is starting 2026 with host of new TV shows and movie premieres. This includes season two of A Thousand Blows, the Stephen Graham-led historical boxing drama, and the premiere of new Ryan Murphy show The Beauty which, given the laughable response to his recent show All's Fair, should be very interesting.
But what about movies you ask? Well, Hulu certainly hasn't forgotten about those, and there are over 55 new titles arriving over the next couple of weeks. So where to start? I've chosen three movies, a comedy, a war film, and a crime epic, to add to my watchlist first – starting with one starring the icon herself, Olivia Colman.

RT score: 80%
Director: Thea Sharrock
Runtime: 100 minutes
Age rating: R
Arriving on: January 27
Kick off 2026 with Thea Sharrock's comedy-mystery movie, which sees Olivia Colman reunite with Jessie Buckley, her co-star from the Netflix drama The Lost Daughter (2021). This time around, the two star as rival neighbors.
Set in 1920s England and based on the true story of the Littlehampton Libels, it follows the conservative and religious Edith Swan (Colman) and Irish immigrant Rose (Buckley). Their small seaside town is shaken when Edith and fellow locals start receiving mysterious and disturbingly anonymous letters. Everyone points the finger at Rose, resulting in her arrest.
But, as the women of the town start to look into the crime themselves, they notice that things don't quite add up, and realize Rose could be innocent after all.
