Newstalk's Kieran Cuddihy steps out in rare appearance with kids Sam and Grace

by · RSVP Live

Kieran Cuddihy made a rare appearance with his children last week as they stepped out in Dublin.

The Newstalk presenter took to the red carpet for the opening night of The Helix Pantomime, Rapunzel on Sunday night, along with his kids Sam and Grace.

Kieran is notoriously private about his family, and rarely makes public appearances with them.

Other stars spotted at the event included former Today FM and Ireland's Fittest Family host Mairead Ronan, presenter Anna Daly, 98FM's Suzanne Kane and Kilkenny GAA legend Henry Shefflin and his wife Deirdre.

Also pictured for the festive night out were RTE Sport's Jacqui Hurley, boxer Bernard Dunne and Virgin Media favourite Colette Fitzpatrick, among many others who enjoyed a hilarious adaptation of the magical fairy tale Rapunzel.

Kieran's children Sam and Grace are nine and seven respectively, and the family are based in Kilkenny along with Kieran's wife. He is very private about his family and doesn't share much about them publicly.

Kieran commutes to and from the Newstalk studio in Dublin, but he has said in the past that he is happy he is there in the morning to bring them to school and home in the evening to put them to bed.

Speaking to RSVP Live last year, Kieran said: "I do the school runs in the mornings and then my wife does the heavy lifting after school with all the activities. When I get home they are in bed.

"They should be asleep but they are often not as asleep, they are still awake.

"I get a summary of the day's events when I get in from work."

Commuting isn't the ideal scenario for everyone, but Kieran has said he enjoys the journey to and from work.

"I know a lot of people would hate the commute but I don’t mind it. A couple of things work in my favour," he said.

"I am not travelling at rush hour, I am coming up from Kilkenny after it in the morning and leaving Dublin after it in the evenings. I don’t hit bad traffic.

"There is also a bit of peace and quiet in the car for an hour and a half each way.

"People might hate sitting in the car for that length of time.

"I have young kids so it is chaotic at home, and it is chaotic at work. The 90 minutes each way is something I enjoy."
