Jamie Borthwick's love life: Co-star crush, EastEnders dating rumour and Strictly curse

Jamie Borthwick has become one of the most well-known actors in the soap world thanks to his role as Jay Brown in EastEnders.

Recently though he’s appeared on Strictly Come Dancing where he’s been wowing the judges and receiving incredible scores with professional partner Michelle Tsiakkas.

The pair have made it all the way to week nine, where they will be dancing a jive to The Ketchup Song by Las Ketchup.

Romance rumours with Strictly co-star

Jamie tends to keep his relationships out of the spotlight, and it is believed that he does not currently have a girlfriend, although Strictly fans couldn’t help nut notice his chemistry with his dance partner on the show, Michelle Tsiakkas.

Although, when asked about the notorious Strictly curse, Jamie told The Mirror: "The idea of that whole Strictly curse, well it's definitely not going to be a thing here because it would be weird doing that with my sister. Michelle and I met before Strictly and we instantly had a connection. But she is like a sister, an aunt, a mum, a best friend. She's looking after me, she's mothering me."

Despite this denial, fans are still certain that romance is blossoming between the two.

The pair were spotted in Blackpool looking cosier than ever ahead of the weekend’s competition, enjoying the sights and some fish and chips.

The twosome looked very romantic, gazing into each other’s eyes, laughing and whispering into the other’s ears.

Bookmakers have been offering fresh odds each week about who will win the 2024 series. Chris McCausland, Sarah Hadland, and Tasha Gouri are the three contestants set to make the final, meaning poor Jamie is likely to miss out on the final.

Crush on EastEnders castmate

The 30-year-old actor has played fan favourite character Jay since 2006 and has been involved in some dramatic storylines over the years.

Jay has done it all, from joining a gang, helping Ben Mitchell cover up a murder and becoming an orphan after his father’s death.

His character Jay has had his fair share of ups and downs when it comes to romance and as it turns out, Jamie had a huge crush on the character Honey’s actress Emma Barton when he was a teenager, unaware that their characters would one day share a brief on screen relationship.

Romantic life

In October, he was connected to Jazzy Phoenix, his co-star from EastEnders, who started playing Nadine Keller at the end of last year.

Jazzy, who was said to have dated former Strictly and Albert Square star Bobby Brazier, reinforced to the rumours that the two were becoming close when she posted a black and white selfie with Jamie. She said in the caption: "Weekly gossip = complete."

Jamie was also linked to a mysterious blonde woman in October, who he was seen enjoying a casual meal with.

The pair were spotted grabbing food in the hotel the Jamie was staying in, along with the rest of the Strictly cast ahead of that weekend’s show.

The 30-year-old appeared relaxed in a grey tracksuit, while his companion sported black athleisure.

Jamie claimed that he did not change his normal lifestyle to accommodate the hectic dance training schedule and said: "No booze ban for me. I've never drunk ever in my life, and no one loves me, so I can't do a sex ban! No bans for me just loads of food”.
