"I Thought This Was My Cousin...": Timothée Chalamet Looks So “Normal” In These New Pics That People Barely Recognize Him, And The Reactions Are Too Funny
By virtue of being one of his generation's most famous movie stars, it can sometimes feel like Timothée Chalamet is everywhere — whether that's posing on the red carpet or sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden.

But over the past few months, Timmy's been a bit quieter than usual. And now, in a recent Instagram post, he gave fans a glimpse of what he's been up to in his downtime.

If you've not seen it, Timmy's post featured a series of highlights from a recent trip to Italy with his dad, Marc Chalamet. "hiking with dad in the Dolomites 🫶," the Oscar nominee captioned the images.
For context, Timothée has over 21 million IG followers and averages around 1 million likes per post. If it's a selfie, he's likely to get more like 2 or 3 million. And now that we've put it into perspective, I can tell you that his father-son hiking trip post currently has over 4.5 million likes, making it one of his most-liked posts ever — and people have a lot of thoughts about it.
On Reddit, people seemed very refreshed by how "normal" the post was. "I don’t really care for looking at celebrities’ holiday snaps, but it’s nice to see ones that look normal?" one user wrote. "I mean, compared to the fashion shoots on yachts that are posted as such." "Just a dad and his son on holiday," echoed someone else.
Since that whole opera/ballet debacle earlier this year, Timothée hasn't necessarily been in the public's good graces. However, people in the comments said the "heartwarmingly sweet" post made him seem more "likable" and "relatable," which is something.

Some of my favorite comments were about how "he looks like any other normal twentysomething." "This made me realize I would never recognize him if I saw him in the wild," one user wrote, echoed by someone else who said they nearly scrolled past the post thinking it "was a random Timothée-look-alike."
Someone also said that this specific photo of Timmy and his dad looks like "the exact kind of picture you get when you're hiking in a remote area and ask the first person you see if they'd mind taking a quick photo." And they're not wrong!
All in all, Timothée's so-called "normie posting" has left people pleasantly surprised. "its kinda rare to see such normal pictures from a famous person," one user remarked. "like these could be your cousins facebook pictures. I like it, less curated aesthetics please."
The jokes on X were also cracking me up, too. (I'm especially laughing at the number of people who said the selfies look like they belong on a dating app profile... if that's not normie, I don't know what is.)
