From The Fantasy Bra To Trump’s Former Press Secretary – 15 Halloween Costume Ideas From 2026

by · BuzzFeed

It's always a bit tricky to come up with Halloween ideas that offer something new. With ghosts, zombies, and classic spooky outfits somewhat tiresome, it's fun to opt for something more topical.

Paramount Pictures

So, here are 15 outfit ideas based on 2026 events that may just win you 'best dressed'.

1. Nathan Fielder and/or Elizabeth Holmes

A24

With You Can See Everything set to be one of the most talked-about films of the year, why not don a black puffer gilet per Amanda Seyfried in The Dropout, or replicate a scene from You Can See Everything this Halloween? It's cost-effective, topical, and honestly pretty unnerving.

2. The Traitors

BBC One

The Celebrity Traitors is back and it's getting a LOT of attention. Rarely have I seen a reality game show get this many 'watch along parties' from independent bars around the UK – it truly is a sensation. You can count on seeing Claudia impersonators out in full force this Saturday.

3. Nicky from Obsession

Universal Pictures

With Obsession being one of the standout horror films of the year and a huge box office hit, Nicky is bound to make appearances at Halloween parties across the globe – just make sure you perfect that sad face.

4. A character from The Odyssey

Universal Pictures

Christopher Nolan's epic retelling of Homer's Odyssey was undoubtably one of 2026's biggest cinematic events, and there are plenty of options to go for. I personally think the Cyclops would be the most interesting to embody, although you'd have to get creative.

5. Backrooms

A24

Kane Parson's Backrooms also took the horror world by storm this year, and while options for specific iconic characters are somewhat sparse, I think trying to go as the iconic dull yellow hallways themselves could be an interesting take.

6. The Social Reckoning

Sony Pictures Releasing

Aaron Sorkin's The Social Reckoning just hit cinemas, so what better time to get the Zuckerberg haircut (or the Beta-Eminem) and a blue longs sleeve.

7. Katie Zacharia, Trump's former Press Secretary

Katie Zacharia made quite the impact in her five days as press secretary. Just a few days after her much-maligned address, it was reported that she'd be leaving her role. It's not the hardest outfit to achieve, a long blonde wig, white necktie, and blazer and you're pretty much there.

8. Erling Haaland

And if you're going to two Halloween functions this year, keep hold of that blonde wig and repurpose it to go as World Cup darling and viral internet sensation Erling Haaland.

9. Something from Dune: Part Three

Warner Bros. Pictures

With Dune: Part Three just round the corner, you'd be forgiven for jumping the gun somewhat and getting clad in your Fremen gear this Halloween. Alternatively, go full Heidi Klum and get your worm on.

10. The New York Knicks and Timothée Chalamet / Taylor Swift

Knicks fever spread around the world (and the internet) this year with their dramatic run to through the NBA Finals. Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Swift were among notable celebs spotted watching the playoffs, they're good options, alternatively, pick up some stilts and go as one of the Knicks themselves.

11. Ed Sheeran's support act... (really good if you forgot to get a costume)

After Macklemore's "Free Palestine" speech led to him being dropped from Sheeran's tour, the singer's remaining support acts all quit. While going as 'nothing' or simply an empty stage maybe tricky, I'm sure the imaginative ones amongst you could rustle something up.

12. Pitbull

Pitbull fans made history this year, by setting the world record for the “largest gathering of people wearing bald caps” at BST Hyde Park. So if you were one of the 22,141 to wear one in 30 degree heat this summer, you already have your Halloween costume sorted – you just may want to wash it first.

13. Super El Niño

The Super El Niño is disrupting a hell of a lot this year, causing extreme weather conditions globally. It's safe to say that a LOT of people had never heard of it before, so if you're creative enough to figure out how to go as this very relevant climate pattern, then go ahead.

14. Dolly Parton

The world lost a true icon this year, with country legend, and just general legend Dolly Parton passing away in August. You can expect many folks paying tribute to the late singer this Halloween, and there are plenty of iconic outfits to choose from.

15. Kylie Jenner and the Victoria's Secret Fantasy Bra

While you may not have a $50 million Victoria's Secret Fantasy Bra lying around, and no one can blame you for that, I'm sure plenty a replica has been fashioned for this upcoming Halloween after Kylie Jenner wore it for her runway debut at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
