Nail Pros Are Revealing Their Top Nail Trends For Fall (And The One That's Already Dated)
by Fabiana Buontempo · BuzzFeed'Tis the season for all things pumpkin, leaves, and spooky vibes! Fall is officially here and I am pumped for it.
Aside from scouring the aisles of Trader Joe's to find the best pumpkin products, the change in season is also a great time to swap out your wardrobe, skincare, and nail colors. There is something about swapping out a bright nail color for a deeper, darker-toned nail that just soothes the soul like a bowl of warm soup on a crisp day.
To learn more about all things fall nails, I reached out to a few nail professionals to find out which nail trends they predict will be everywhere this season — plus any others they think are already outdated.
Here are the top six nail trends they believe will be everywhere this fall:
1. Ornate and bedazzled nails.
"[Designer] Marc Jacobs has really been promoting this renewed movement of insanely large nails with outrageous designs, and I think people are starting to embrace that again. For a while, minimalism was king, but maybe we are going back to Rococo, super clustered nails now," celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann told BuzzFeed.
2. A twist on the classic French tip.
Celebrity manicurist and KISS Nails brand Ambassador Gina Edwards predicts that many people will request a "fall" take on the classic French manicure by alternating colors on the base and the tip, as well as ombre tips.
3. Long nails.
"I have noticed people want long nails again," Deborah said.
4. Chrome nails continue to be a hit.
Thanks to Hailey Bieber, chrome nails seem here to stay. Both Gina and celebrity manicurist and KISS Nails brand ambassador Julie K. agree that this fall, many people will be requesting—or DIYing themselves—fall foliage nails using multiple shades of chrome like this. "You can also do this in polish by hand painting in shades of copper, gold, silver, and rose gold," explained Julie.
Julie said even "3D gold chrome designs are still trending heavily," a look that you can easily recreate at home with press-on nails.
5. Deep jewel tones.
"These tones are rich shades inspired by precious gemstones like emeralds, sapphires, and rubies. These hues include deep greens, blues, purples, and reds, offering a striking contrast to the softer pastel shades of previous seasons," said Deborah.
6. Cat eye.
Julie K. also said that deep metallic cat eyes (which is a subtle metallic line that runs diagonally across the nail) are very in this fall, which can easily be achieved with a good set of press-on nails if you're afraid to DIY them at home.
