Now here's the last person you want to be ringing in the end of Pride Month with.

By now, you're well aware that J.K. Rowling has spent the majority of her post-Harry Potter career spending time — and money — essentially pushing back against the mere notion of trans rights. Her work in this regard has essentially plagued every corner of discourse around HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series. It's what plenty of people recognize her for now, and she only has herself to thank for that.

It would stand to follow that J.K. would be perhaps the last person you'd pose for a picture with during Pride Month, which celebrates every letter of LGBTQIA+ representation down to a "T" (see what I did there?). Of course, the royal family are somewhat notorious for not reading the cultural room...

Which is what led to this photo op between Queen Camilla and J.K. herself, shared with the general public right at the tail end of Pride Month. Y-i-k-e-s.

"With a shared passion for books and a deep commitment to children reading for pleasure, The Queen and author J.K. Rowling have met at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh," the royal family posted to their official Twitter account. "Her Majesty and Ms Rowling discussed the importance of ensuring that young people have access to books and the vital part reading plays in opening doors for future generations."

To put it mildly, people are not happy about this.

"This is absolutely revolting," one commenter said.

One commenter pointed out the contrast between the Queen's gesture and the late Princess Diana's outreach to people suffering from the AIDS crisis during her lifetime.

"in a time of unimaginable cruelty towards people living with AIDS, when nurses would leave trays of food on the floor outside their hospital rooms, princess diana transformed public perception by simply hanging out with them and treating them like people," the commenter wrote.

And another commenter took the opportunity to reaffirm the type of principles that define Pride Month as a whole.

"on the last day of pride month as well…" they wrote, before exclaiming, "TRANS MEN ARE MEN TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN TRANS LIVES MATTER."
