Kate Beckinsale is continuing to speak out amid ongoing comments about her body.
The actor has repeatedly faced remarks about her "thin" appearance — and she's consistently called them out. After images of her from her then-upcoming movie Stolen Girl sparked negative commentary in 2024, Kate took to Instagram to explain that she had been dealing with multiple personal struggles. She said they included stress from "stuff" involving her mom and her stepdad — whom she'd said she'd "nursed to his death" earlier that year — as well as the loss of her pet cat.
"At the same time I experienced a severe flair of my mast cell disease, also mitigated by stress, shock, and grief," Kate added. "That's what I am prepared to disclose that has contributed to some weight loss. What you think of my appearance and how I should look, independently of any circumstances in my life and my family's, is not important...Do better."
Despite this, Kate has continued to receive comments about her looks — even after her mom died in July 2025. More recently, she faced criticism after sharing a new photo in nature to Instagram on Wednesday. The post was soundtracked to the song "I'm Not What Happened To Me" by Good Vibes Tribe 11:11.
Critics were quick to comment on the post, with one person writing "get off the glp1" while another told Kate that she's "losing too much weight."
One person even compared her to Ariana Grande, who has also faced public scrutiny over her appearance during the press runs for Wicked and its sequel. "Turning into @arianagrande 👎," the person wrote, leading Kate to say: "It must be immensely inconvenient that me losing basically my entire family except my daughter and watching some not all peaceful deaths that have destroyed my soul is aesthetically displeasing for you and that that has made me not very hungry."
She added, "I do apologise from the bottom of my skinny ass heart."
When another person suggested she should try to "gain weight" because it "looks better," Kate replied, "I'm not really worrying about what I look like right now."
The comments came just before Kate shared a lengthy video addressing her "really hard" year and the mean remarks she received during it. "People respond [to grief] in different ways obviously," she said, "but if you Google physical manifestations of grief, your appetite is probably the first one. But I will say that because of my dad and my stepdad and my mum, I am so grateful that it wouldn't occur to me to see somebody suffering and write something nasty about their appearance. It just wouldn't cross my mind. I am so grateful to have been brought up by people who raised me like that. And I really miss them."
Kate later deleted both the video and the Instagram post.
