Kristen Bell recently appeared on talk shows and podcasts, offering fans an unfiltered look at her family life. The actress recently shared insights into her 13-year marriage to Dax Shepard and the challenges of parenting. She also once shared that she wouldn't bat an eye if he physically cheated on her, as she knew he would eventually return to her. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard share a kind of relationship that many might find weird or unusual. From complimenting other women in front of his wife to flirt with her in a roundabout way to thinking one-night stands are okay, they have shared several debatable stories about their dynamics. One of the biggest controversies the couple faced was when Dax publicized an unclad picture of Kristen Bell. In the picture, she appears to be doing yoga while wearing nothing but a pair of blue socks.

Dax Shepard probably took the photo as well as shared it on social media, covering her butt with a red rectangle shape and leaving the rest of her back exposed. He made the post in July 2026 to celebrate his better half's first-ever Primetime Emmy nomination for the Netflix romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This.

Dax's caption hints that he wanted to showcase the exercise and hard work Kristen puts in to maintain her physique, as well as the self-discipline required of a good actor. In the post, he praised his wife and congratulated her for the Emmy nomination. In his words:

"People might not know everything that happens behind the scenes in order to create an Emmy nominated performance like Kristen's. This may or may not have been a part of her training, but it felt right. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!"

Even though Dax probably didn't have any ill intentions behind sharing Kristen's bare-body photo, there is no doubt the whole thing was pretty unusual. Someone casually sharing their partner's nude photo is definitely not a frequent occurrence and thus, the post shocked the viewers. Like the public, celebrities also couldn't hold themselves back from reacting to the unexpected post.

Iron Man actress Gwyneth Paltrow expressed shock upon seeing the photo and exclaimed, "Oh my God, Dax." Mae Whitman, on the other hand, praised Kristen Bell's "incredible form" in her late 40s. Notably, this wasn't the first time Dax Shepard posted the scandalous snap. He shared the same shot of Kristen Bell earlier during Mother's Day in 2021 as well. 

At that time, Dax Shepard gushed about his wife and baby mama for her talent and hard work. He added that he and their two daughters, Lincoln and Delta Shepard, were incredibly lucky to have Kristen Bell in their lives. Expressing their love for her, he captioned the post as:

"Mom'ing has changed since I was a kid…and I'm here for it. Look at this specimen: kind, patient, nurturing, hilarious, Uber talented, generous, hard AND soft. My girls and I hit the MegaMom Lottery in spectacular fashion. We are so grateful and so in love with you @kristenanniebell."

Kristen Bell revealed Dax Shepard compliments other women to flirt with her

During an appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, Kristen Bell revealed that her husband flirts with her by complimenting other people. As per Kristen, Dax Shepard would tell the waitress, "Wow, you have incredible eyelashes, gorgeous eyes. Great, great job."

Later, in their conversation, Kristen also revealed that although Shepard compliments others, he never crosses the line or makes anyone feel uncomfortable. Bell also insisted that his ways often flatter her. Elaborating on the same, "That's why it gives me butterflies because everyone saw it."
