Sydney Sweeney is a talented actress who has been hogging the limelight for her erotic scenes. The actress went for full-frontal nudity for her role in The Housemaid, which grabbed a lot of attention. She then went on to do multiple erotic scenes in Euphoria while dressing up in possibly nothing. Her wild sex scene in the third season of Euphoria also became the centre of a huge discussion.

Sydney Sweeney justified her nude scenes and revealed why she won’t stop doing them

Despite criticism over her bold scenes, Sydney Sweeney revealed she wouldn’t stop doing them. In an interview with W Magazine, Sweeney revealed why she’s still committed to doing nude scenes and how they empower her as an actress. Sweeney stated that, for her, performing bold scenes is not about shocking her audience but about sharing her strength as an actress.

Apart from Euphoria, Sweeney has experimented with bold roles in The Voyeurs and Anyone But You. Sweeney, who has carved her niche in the glamour world playing emotionally complex and unapologetically bold characters, justifies her bold on-screen roles and stated:

“I don’t get nervous. I gained so much confidence and self-awareness on Euphoria. I think that the female body is a very powerful thing. And I’m telling my character’s story, so I owe it to them to tell it well and to do what needs to be done.”

Sydney Sweeney revealed the downsides of her bold scenes

While Sweeney is very confident of her skin and the power it has on-screen, the actress shared the downsides of on-screen nudity. In a Cosmopolitan interview, Sweeney revealed that because of her bold scenes, people never took her seriously and shared, ‘I don’t think as many people took me seriously in Euphoria because I took my shirt off’.

In the same interaction, Sweeney also pointed out the double standards of people when a male star does a nude scene. Sweeney shared that when a male actor does a nude scene or even if they take up their shirt, they either get a role or an Oscar. But that is not the same for an actress, who gets bullied, trolled and tagged with names online.

Journalist Megyn Kelly blasts Sydney Sweeney for 'sexualising infancy'

Sydney Sweeney's role as 'Cassie' in Euphoria has been heavily criticised, as her puppy roleplay and baby cosplay, wearing nothing but a diaper, were too much for the audience to digest. In one episode, Sweeney was seen sucking on a pacifier, dressed like a baby, and spreading her legs. Though the scene raised many eyebrows, American journalist Megyn Kelly felt that Sydney Sweeney crossed the line. Megyn on the episode of SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show gave her reaction and accused Sweeney of sexualising childhood. In her words:

“I can’t believe she agreed to this frankly and was in this. I think this guy’s sick. Sam Levinson. He constantly wants the women to take their clothes off for, like, scenes that don’t require them to be nude at all."

Sydney Sweeney shared her father's strong reaction to her nude scenes

During one of her interviews, Sweeney shared how her parents reacted to her bold scenes in which she's almost nude. The 28-year-old actress was quoted by Us Weekly as saying that her mom was supportive of her work, but her dad couldn’t take it. Sharing details about the same, Sweeney revealed that she didn’t prepare her dad to watch her bold avatar on-screen. She also recalled that once, her father and grandfather decided to watch her show, then they soon turned it off and walked out.
