Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have ended their nine-year marriage, drawing fresh attention to the couple's relationship history, especially Sadoski's previous marriage to casting director Kimberly Hope.

When Sadoski first met the Mamma Mia! actress in 2015, he was still married to Hope, and a few months later, he confirmed his divorce from Hope. With the clashing timeline, many have wondered whether Seyfried might have played a role in the end of Sadoski and Hope's marriage.

In reality, however, the scenario was quite different, and the public timeline does not establish that Seyfried was the reason for Sadoski and Hope's divorce. The former spouses had already separated by October 2015, while Seyfried and Sadoski did not begin dating until the following year.

Who is Thomas Sadoski's ex-wife, Kimberly Hope?

Kimberly Hope is a renowned figure in Hollywood's casting industry. She is a veteran casting executive whose career behind the scenes far outweighs her personal troubles with her ex-husband.

Hope and Sadoski's relationship spans a total of 16 years. They were together for eight years before marrying in 2007. After spending another eight years as a married couple, they parted ways through a divorce in 2015. Despite having been together for almost two decades, they never had any children.

On the professional front, Hope has had a brilliant career across film and television casting. Her portfolio includes projects such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Arbitrage, and The International. Sadoski, meanwhile, built his own acting career across TV and movies, including The Newsroom, Life in Pieces, Wild, and John Wick: Chapter 2.

The news of their divorce became public in October 2015, after eight years of marriage. Sadoski had already met Seyfried earlier that year while they were both starring in the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By. After her split from Sadoski, Hope moved on with actor Barry Alan Levine, whom she married on October 17, 2024, after dating for six years.

Did Amanda Seyfried have anything to do with Thomas and Kimberly's divorce?

Despite the speculations, the pair has long maintained that their first meeting was anything but romantic. Seyfried later explained in a 2018 interview with Porter Edit that both she and Sadoski were involved with their respective partners when they first met. Amanda was dating Justin Long when she met Sadoski, while Sadoski was married to Hope. During their first meeting, they shared a platonic friendship that eventually evolved into a romance after they met again as two single people.

The Housemaid actress had once reflected on her and Sadoski's past relationships. In a 2018 interview with Porter Edit, Seyfried explained that both she and Sadoski were in "bad relationships" when they first met, but the latter never badmouthed Hope during those conversations. She was quoted as saying:

"We were both in bad relationships…[Thomas] never flirted, never disrespected his wife. That was another reason why I thought, later on, that I could marry him."

That detail is particularly significant given the timing. Both Seyfried and Sadoski's relationships ended in 2015, and their romance began only after those breakups.

Seyfried and Sadoski reunited while filming The Last Word in 2016. Their relationship was confirmed publicly in March that year, and they became engaged several months later. Seyfried later described the beginning of their romance as "healthy and freeing," saying they could tell their story "without any guilt." Her comments also suggest that the boundaries Sadoski maintained during their first meeting mattered to her.

The couple married in March 2017 and welcomed daughter Nina shortly afterward. They later welcomed son Thomas Jr. in 2020. For years, they kept their family life private, raising their children on a farmhouse in upstate New York. As recently as early 2026, Seyfried spoke positively about Sadoski's support, telling Vogue that he “sacrifices a lot for me” as she pursued several major acting opportunities.

Now, after nearly a decade of marriage, Seyfried and Sadoski have confirmed that their relationship has changed. In a joint statement to PEOPLE, the former couple said, "We have been separated for a while, and it's proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We've got each other forever — and it's GOOD."

Amanda and Thomas may no longer be romantically together, but they have maintained a strong bond rooted in love, respect, family, and co-parenting their children.
