Benny Blanco shared his desire for fatherhood during his September 15, 2026 appearance at Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. He shared tha he is "full-court press" on starting a family with his wife, Selena Gomez. The topic came up when the host asked 38-year-old Benny about a recent September 2026 Instagram Story shared by the Calm Down singer, where she could be seen spending sweet moments with a newborn baby. Selena wrote "one day.." in the text overlay.
The post led netizens to wonder whether Selena Gomez was hinting at a pregnancy. When the host asked Benny Blanco about the buzz, he shared his excitement. The couple is set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary on September 27, 2026, and amid that, Benny feels more than ready to be a dad. Selena Gomez once shared that she wants four children
During an episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast in March 2026, Selena Gomez expressed her wish to have multiple kids. For the unversed, the podcast is hosted by her husband, Benny Blanco, and his close friends, Lil Dicky (real name Dave Burd) and Dave's wife, Kristin Batalucco. During their conversation about their personal lives, Benny asked Dave and his wife how many children they wanted.
Dave replied, "One, two max," while his wife answered, "Like three." Selena joined the conversation, sharing that she wanted four; however, her husband did not share his views. The Real Beauty mogul's exact words were:
"I want four [children], but that's out there."
Selena Gomez cited a specific scene from the 2005 movie The Family Stone as one that triggers her maternal instinct. She admires the 'dinner table scene' where Diane Keaton plays a matriarch surrounded by a large, lively family. Selena further stated that she "can't get it [the scene] out of [her] head." The sense of family and togetherness is something the Love On singer craves.
The Wolves singer wants to be surrounded by her loved ones in her old age. Regarding her wish to live The Family Stone's scene in real life, she stated:
"One day at my dinner table, when I'm her age, I want to see that dinner table. Whatever happens, happens. If we're only able to have one, none. I hope... we don't know. But my dream for sure was that scene where they're all at the dinner table, and they're just with their partners or their significant others or kids or single and it's just this beautiful cast of characters."
Notably, Selena Gomez publicly stated that she will most likely not be able to carry her own children due to multiple medical conditions that would put her and her baby's life at risk. As a result, she is openly considering surrogacy and adoption as paths to motherhood. She shared the same during her conversation with Vanity Fair. The primary health factors influencing this decision include her Lupus diagnosis.
The It Ain't Me singer has battled Lupus for years, which led to a kidney transplant in 2017. Additionally, Selena takes specific medications to manage bipolar disorder. She noted that the health issues could make a safe pregnancy impossible for her during her Rolling Stone interview in 2022.
