Falz Opens Up On His Double Lifestyle

by · Naija News

Nigerian singer, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has stated that he was once a lawyer by day and rapper by night.

Naija News reports that Falz made this known in an episode of the Madam Joyce podcast, while narrating how he was juggling music and practising law.

The rapper noted that it was challenging balancing his two careers.

According to Falz, there was a legal rule prohibiting lawyers from engaging in other activities while practsing law.

He said, “There was a time I was in court, and living a double life at the time as well. Lawyer by day, rapper by night.

“So when I announced my appearance ‘With profound respect my lord, the name is Folarin the Falana, appearing for the plaintiff’ and the judge lowered his glasses and said ‘counsel, are you not the one doing something else on the side?’

“There is an unspoken rule of professional conduct within the legal practice where you are not supposed to do other things.”

Why I Decided To Become A Lawyer

Meanwhile, Falz has said that he was not pressured to become a lawyer.

Falz stated this in his latest interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.

He, however, explained that he was inspired by the people his father, Femi Falana, fought for when he was growing up.

Falz said he simply wanted to emulate the good deeds of his father.
