Married at First Sight U.K. Canceled After Reports of Sexual Assault

Married at First Sight U.K. is no more. Channel 4 has canceled the series and its spinoff and scrapped season six, even though it was already filmed. BBC Panorama uncovered three reports of sexual assault from three women in the cast; two unidentified women accused their husbands on the show of rape, and another alleged a nonconsensual sex act. One man was arrested on suspicion of rape in July 2026. Season six was currently in production but will not air, and another spinoff series, Second Married at First Sight, was in preproduction and will be canceled as well. An external investigation suggested the show could continue with increased safety protocols, but Channel 4 chose to end it. “Whilst the review praised the welfare protocols in place and made no findings that Channel 4 breached the Ofcom Code or that the format is inherently unsafe, I have to consider when is the right time for Channel 4 to move on from a format,” Channel 4 chief executive Priya Dogra said in a press release. “The recommendations are eminently sensible and feasible, but considering their wholesale implementation provoked fundamental questions about the editorial proposition of a show that, I believe, has now run its course over ten years.”

The original series ran for ten seasons on Channel 4, but episodes have been removed from streaming services since May.
