Timothy Busfield Accused of Child Sexual Abuse

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of actor and director Timothy Busfield. He has been accused of child sexual abuse by two young boys who worked on The Cleaning Lady; Busfield was an executive producer and an actor on the show. The child actors, who are both 11 years old, claim that Busfield “touched them inappropriately over a period of years,” one child said the abuse began when he was seven years old, reports the New York Times.

The investigation began in 2024 after staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital requested a sexual abuse investigation for the children. The two boys both claimed that Busfield touched them inappropriately while they were on the set of the show, including tickling them. The children told police and their parents that they were “very afraid” of Busfield and felt “relieved” when he was not on set. In a phone interview taken on November 3, 2025, Busfield claimed that the set was “a playful environment” and that he doesn’t “remember overtly tickling the boys ever, but it wouldn’t be uncommon for” him. He also alleged that the boys’ mother wanted “revenge” as the children were not brought back for the final season of the show. Production assistants interviewed by police said that Busfield was sometimes “touchy” and “unprofessional” with staff.

“The health and safety of our cast and crew is always our top priority, especially the safety of minors on our productions,” Warner Bros. TV shared with Variety. “We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously and have systems in place to promptly and thoroughly investigate, and when needed, take appropriate action. We are aware of the current charges against Mr. Busfield and have been and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement.” Busfield has not been arrested yet.
