Matthew Perry’s Family Attended Monica and Chandler’s Wedding

Monica and Chandler’s wedding on Friends was attended by some very special guests: Matthew Perry’s immediate family. As Perry discussed in his memoir, he was in treatment during filming, and was “driven back to the treatment center … in a pickup truck helmed by a sober technician” right after saying “I do.” In an interview with People, Perry’s sister Mia Perry Bowick said the whole family knew the fictional wedding might be the only time they got to see Perry get married. “We all knew how serious his disorder was, so there was this sense of, ‘Who knows what’s going to happen?’” she said. “Watching that wedding, we all knew he wanted that in life. He wanted a partner, he wanted kids.”

Perry Bowick is doing press for The One About Matthew Perry, the upcoming Netflix docuseries from Mary Robertson, out October 27. The series sets out to be about Perry’s life rather than a lurid true-crime exploration of his death. Perry Bowick very candidly speaks on how her relationship with her big brother and his addiction led her to become a therapist. The documentary also interviews some of Perry’s exes. The actor dated Julia Roberts, Ione Skye, and Lizzy Caplan, but never married.
