Taylor Swift Arrives at the End of an Era(s Tour)
by Jason P. Frank · VULTURETaylor Swift’s Eras Tour has one final act to give Swifties. Swift is releasing the last performance of her landmark tour onto Disney+ as The Final Show. The trailer, out December 1, teases all of the new content that wasn’t included in the original Eras Tour concert film. Most notably, it will feature The Tortured Poets Department, which was added partway through the tour after Swift released the album on April 19, 2024. The trailer features snippets of performances of fan-favorite tracks from that album like “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me,” which she performs in a white dress with handwritten notes printed on the skirt, and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” featuring dancers bedecked in top hats. “I wanna thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date,” Swift says to her fans in the stadium and watching at home.
Filmed in Vancouver on December 8, 2024, the final show featured five surprise songs: “A Place in This World” and “New Romantics” on the guitar plus “Long Live,” “New Year’s Day,” and “The Manuscript” on the piano. Swift even changed the “Long Live” lyric from “It was the end of a decade” to “It was the end of an era.” The special will come to fans almost exactly on the anniversary, debuting on Disney+ on December 12 alongside the Eras Tour documentary, also titled The End of an Era. That’s one day before Swift’s own birthday on December 13 — what else does she have up her bedazzled sleeve? Does it have the word Era on it?
