Michael Fassbender Is Daddy (Kennedy)

by · VULTURE

If the conclusion of FX’s Love Story has left you feeling bereft of Massachusetts royalty, fear not. Netflix has you covered. The streamer just released the first look at Michael Fassbender as Joseph Kennedy Sr. in Kennedy. It’s The Crown: America — production has even begun in London, which is famously not in America. Based on the book JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917–1956, Kennedy will look at how Joe Kennedy Sr.’s family became the Kennedys. If JFK’s White House was Camelot, this is like a sad, corruption-filled Disney’s The Sword in the Stone. That would make Imogen Poots’s Gloria Swanson like the Madam Mim of the piece.

Rounding out the love triangle between Joe Sr. and Swanson is Joe’s wife, Rose Kennedy (Laura Donnelly). Golden child Joe Jr. will be played by Nick Robinson, and glass child/future prez Jack Kennedy will be played by Joshuah Melnick. Tipper Seifert-Cleveland will also appear as the tragic Rosemary Kennedy, Wyatt Russell as Charles Lindbergh, Caitlin FitzGerald as The Women playwright and U.S. representative Clare Boothe Luce, and Toby Huss as Franklin D. Roosevelt. From Artie, the Strongest Man in the World, to the shinless Cotton Hill to a wheelchair-using president — Toby Huss has the range.
