Keith Richards Knows Exactly How He Outlasted Everyone
by Devon Ivie · VULTUREWe must really think about the world we’ll be leaving behind for Keith Richards, who, at the age of 82, is a medical marvel unsure of when he will, to use his own words, finally “croak.” It’s an inquiry Zane Lowe asked him about in a new interview, in regard to Keef and the Rolling Stones outlasting all of their classic-rock counterparts. “Healthy living. Go to bed early,” he responded. “There’s nothing like it. That’s the formula: Be a good boy.” Keef also knows his physical limitations, choosing to eschew a 2026 stadium tour for the band’s latest album, Foreign Tongues. He most recently expressed interest in returning to live music with concert residency in 2027, although, in a strange case of mixed signals, Mick Jagger criticized city-specific residencies earlier this month as unfair and costly for fans. Richards envisions another Rolling Stones record in their future, though. “Anytime the whistle blows, I’m there and I’m up for it. Always got a few songs in the bag,” he explained. “I’m sure Mick does, he never stops. Making, that’s what I do, so you’re automatically thinking about what you’re going to do next. So it’s sort of there in the making.”
