Bride splits opinion after washing off professional make-up minutes before walking down the aisle

by · Irish Mirror

A bride has caused quite a stir online after she decided to wash off her professionally-done makeup just moments before walking down the aisle. It's crucial for any bride to feel her best on her wedding day, and a significant part of that is being content with your makeup.

Many brides opt to hire professional makeup artists to take care of their look on the big day, but it can be a bit of a gamble when someone else is in charge of your face - it might not turn out as you're used to. That's where bridal makeup trials come into play - they offer a chance to experiment with different looks and provide feedback for any adjustments needed for the actual day.

This particular bride did just that with her MUA, but she wasn't happy with the final result on her wedding day, leading her to wipe off all her makeup just 20 minutes before saying 'I do', without even informing the artist. The bride, Lauren from California, took to TikTok to share her last-minute decision, and her video has since sparked a massive debate online among other brides, makeup artists, and shocked viewers, racking up over 30 million views.

In the now-private viral clip, Lauren shared her wedding day turmoil by confessing she 'hated' the job done by an unnamed makeup artist. Capturing the moment she scrubbed off the make-up, one of her bridesmaids can be heard comforting her in the background: "No, it's okay, it's okay. It'll be perfect. It's always just perfect when you do it you always look so pretty."

She pondered aloud whether it would be impolite to request that the artist only do "touch-ups" on what she'd correct herself, to which her bridesmaid replied it didn't matter since they were "never going to see her again," reports the Mirror.

After wiping the makeup away, Lauren felt more at ease despite claiming the makeup artist failed to blend the makeup to her neck and picked the 'wrong lip colour'.

The video switches to Lauren applying her own makeup on the floor, with a pal commenting off-camera, "Skin tone already matches your neck way better. And in pictures, it's going to look so much better, too."

Even though Lauren seemed happier doing her own makeup, posting the clip sparked frustration among many viewers, with some questioning her decision to share the experience publicly. Lauren herself is heard in the video anticipating her social media reveal: "I can't wait to make a TikTok about this".

One fuming viewer said: "Mean girl vibes. Loved the makeup artist job," and another remarked: "Your energy says it all....my heart goes out to the makeup artist."

There was a lot of praise for the artist's work too, with one person saying: "If the makeup artist is watching. YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON HER MAKEUP."

Despite this, some sided with Lauren's decision to remove the makeup, as a fan indicated: "I'm proud of her for washing it off if she wasn't happy and comfortable! ".

The makeup wizard behind the bridal look, known online as @twirlyshears, has finally spoken up on TikTok, sharing what really happened and racking over 28 million views with hordes showing their support for her.

In her video, she reveals Lauren wiping off her makeup didn't really grate on her; rather, it was that Lauren had been so utterly nice and straightforward during the makeup session, leaving her shocked by the bride's actual opinion.

As the makeup artist shares her story, clearly upset as her voice quivers on her clip, it becomes evident how much Lauren's comments have hurt her.

One user reacted: "Hearing your voice shake broke my heart. I thought your work looked great," while another added: "I can hear the hurt in your voice. I'm so sorry, people can be so cruel."

At the same time, someone else took an optimistic view, chiming in: "She just gave you a platform to shine on, her loss! ".
