Netflix's hit show Beef is ramping up the excitement for its second season, roping in some serious star power to lead the new batch of episodes.

The first series had viewers hooked with the intense rivalry between Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) and Amy Lau (Ali Wong), whose road rage clash spiralled into a full-blown vendetta that consumed their lives.

With their chapter closed, the anthology series is set to introduce fresh faces, and Netflix has just dropped the news that Hollywood heavyweights Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan will be at the forefront of the new instalment, joined by rising stars Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny.

Isaac, famed for his portrayal of Poe Dameron in the latest Star Wars saga and as Duke Leto Atreides in Dune, teams up with three-time Oscar-nominated actress Mulligan, known for her acclaimed roles in Promising Young Woman and Maestro, reports the Mirror.

Melton, who shot to fame on Riverdale and earned a Golden Globe nod for the Netflix drama May December, and Spaeny, who's been making waves internationally with parts in Alien: Romulus, Civil War and Priscilla, complete the stellar lineup.

Netflix has teased fans with a glimpse of what's to come: "This season's inciting incident? A young couple witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favours and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner."

With a star-studded cast and an intriguing plot, the second season of Beef is set to be a must-watch for Netflix subscribers. But will it match up to the phenomenal first series?

The limited series premiered in 2023, and went on to become the most recogniSed and award-winning anthology series of the 2023-2024 season with wins including 8 Emmy Awards, 4 Critics Choice Awards, 3 Golden Globe Awards, 2 Gotham Awards, 2 Film Independent Spirit Awards, 2 SAG Awards, as well as PGA, WGA and AFI Honors.

The first series also proved a huge hit with viewers, with some subscribers hailing it as Netflix's best ever series.

One ardent fan on X (formerly Twitter) couldn't contain their excitement: "#BEEFNetflix is a masterwork of pettiness and jaw-dropping escalation, riotously funny and genuinely profound, digging into how "hurt people" hurt people."

"This is the best show of the year. #BEEFNetflix," one fan wrote, while another tweeted: "Happy to report #BEEFNetflix is as good as I knew it would be!!!!"

Another viewer was equally impressed: "I just finished #BEEFNetflix #beef and wow. One of the best shows I've seen in a while," they said.

"Amazing performances all around. Yeun and Wong are fantastic. Funny, thrilling and anxiety inducing. What a show. Netflix has a WINNER."

The first season of Beef follows the aftermath of a road rage incident between two retribution-obsessed strangers: Danny Cho (Steven Yeun), a down-on-his-luck contractor with something to prove, and Amy Lau (Ali Wong), a self-made entrepreneur whose picture-perfect life looks less pretty up close(Image: Netflix)

An online reviewer gave the show a five-star rating, writing: "Beef is the epitome of the 21st century and is relatable to everyone while pushing things to the extreme. Steven Yuen and Ali Wong are perfect as rivals feuding over a mild road rage incident."

ANother viewer said: "Finished BEEF. I think that was a practically perfect season of television. Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are phenomenal (honestly, the whole cast is), and that storytelling is brilliant across the board. Surprisingly emotionally battering as well."

A final fan, who admitted they were "late to the party", exclaimed: "HOLY F***.... #Beef on @netflix is INCREDIBLE! Perfect show, from start to finish."

"@steveyeun is amazing, and @aliwong is a revelation. Wow. Kudos to all the creators, and THANK YOU! ".
