Aslan guitarist Billy McGuinness has revealed the band will be releasing a new album next year.

The Dubliner said the new material is being collectively written by Lee Tomkins, Alan Downey, Joe Jewell and himself.

He said it has a different sound compared to older songs which were penned with the late band frontman Christy Dignam.

Speaking exclusively to the Irish Mirror about the material, the 63-year-old said: "It’s super exciting in the Aslan camp at the moment because we are writing new songs. It’s enjoyable as it’s been hard to get to this position.

"Our plan is to release something early 2025, we are aiming for January, to start the new year off with a bang.

"We have made the decision to go hell for leather as there’s another album in us. Especially with Lee being on board it’s something to aim for.

"Don’t get me wrong, we always think of Christy, at every gig Christy is mentioned.

"Even with the song writing we are doing in the studio, he’s always there, he’s with us and always will be despite what some people think or say.

"It’s going to a new sound, it’s going to be different as we have a different singer."
