The hits keep coming for Bluesfest-loving Hunter music fans, with American rock band The Black Crowes cancelling their Newcastle show.

The Black Crowes, fronted by charismatic brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, were supposed to perform at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on April 10, as part of their wider Australian tour for Bluesfest.

Bluesfest said on March 13 that the 36-year-old music festival had collapsed and was subsequently put into liquidation. Reports suggest that Bluesfest ticket holders are unlikely to receive refunds.

The Black Crowes, whose hits include Hard To Handle and Remedy, were one of the headliners booked for Bluesfest, but were scheduled to perform solo shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Newcastle.

The Robinson brothers had previously played at Newcastle's Civic Theatre in 1992 and 2008, but ticket sales were sluggish for their Newcastle Entertainment Centre gig.

On Monday The Black Crowes announced a second Sydney Enmore Theatre show on April 8 and cancelled the Newcastle gig.

In a statement on the Newcastle Entertainment Centre website, the cancellation was confirmed.

"Unfortunately, Bluesfest Tours, the promoter, wishes to advise that The Black Crowes performance at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, scheduled for Friday 10 April 2026, has been cancelled."

Ticket holders will be refunded automatically.

A spokesperson for Bluesfest told the Newcastle Herald that Live Nation had taken over the tour.

The Black Crowes' social media pages announced the second Sydney show, but omitted the Newcastle cancellation.

"Due to the unfortunate situation with Bluesfest next week, we've scrambled (with the help of our friends at Live Nation) and were able to add another show in Sydney on April 8."
