Offset hospitalised after being shot in Florida

American rapper Offset was injured in a shooting outside a popular casino in Florida on Monday evening, according to his representative.

The 34-year-old artiste, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

A representative for the rapper confirmed that Offset is in stable condition.

“We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored,” the rep said.

The Seminole police department said the shooting occurred in a valet area and involved non-life-threatening injuries. It added that authorities acted swiftly, containing the situation and detaining two individuals in connection with the incident.

“We responded to an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 p.m. Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood,” the department said.

“The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”

Offset, the estranged partner of rapper Cardi B, rose to fame as a member of the Atlanta hip-hop trio Migos, which he formed in 2008 with Quavo and Takeoff. The group became one of the most influential acts of the 2010s.

However, Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot at the age of 28 outside a Houston bowling alley in November 2022.

A suspect Patrick Xavier Clark was indicted for murder in May 2023 and is scheduled to stand trial on November 9, 2026.
