Davido joins politics, follows uncle into Accord Party

In a post via his X page on Tuesday, the ‘With You’ hitmaker revealed plans to travel to Osun state on Wednesday to officially collect his party membership card.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @Imole House Osogbo tomorrow… see you soon accordingly. Cc @AAdeleke_01,” he wrote.
The move comes two weeks after Ademola Adeleke, the singer’s uncle, who is the governor of Osun, defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party.

Adeleke was also elected as the party’s candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
Born David Adeleke, Davido rose to fame in 2012 after releasing ‘Dami Duro,’ the second single from his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’.
He has established a name for himself as one of Africa’s leading artistes as well as one of the Afrobeats ‘Big Three’.
Since his debut album, he has delivered other projects, including ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time‘ (2020), and ‘Timeless’ (2023).

The singer released ‘5ive’, his fourth studio album, in April.
Davido is also the founder of DMW, a record label established in April 2016. The music label has served as home to a plethora of music talent.
