The film star spoke during an interview with BBC where he commented on speculation that their relationship had broken down.

Makinde emphasised that social media often creates narratives that are not based on facts.

“Nothing really happened between me and Madam Funke, and I’m not aware of any fallout,” he said.

“Social media likes to construct stories. They write their own script and then start looking for people to fit into the roles.”

The actor emphasised that his relationship with Akindele did not begin on social media and will not end there.

“Our relationship no start from social media and no be for social media e go end,” he said in pidgin English.

He added that as people grow and transition between different phases of life, some relationships may appear to be lost along the way — but that is not necessarily the case.

“Sometimes, as you grow and move from one level to another, some relationships may look like they are lost in transit, but that’s really not the case,” Makinde explained.

The rumours started on the back of Akindele’s absence from Makinde’s wedding.

However, Makinde said he understood that she had a busy schedule on the day of the ceremony.
