Born Hadiza Blell, Di’Ja began her music career in 2008 and was signed to Mavin Records in 2014 before later stepping away from the spotlight.
In 2023, the singer clarified that she “never left” the label, explaining that her reduced presence in the music industry was because “life happens”.
“I never left. Kindly know this. Life happens and we are grateful for all the love and happenings. God bless Tems, and I need her to get bigger,” she wrote.

In an interview on Crea8torium podcast, Don Jazzy described letting Di’ja leave Mavin Records as the “most difficult decision of my career”.
The music executive said the moment was emotional for both of them, adding that everyone in the room ended up in tears.
He revealed that he now allows other executives at the label to handle such decisions because he sees every artiste on the label as his child.

“One of the most difficult decisions of my career was when I had to let Di’ja go. That was difficult, and I don’t think I will let any artiste go again by myself,” he said.
“Tega and Rema handle that now if they need somebody to leave the label. Everybody on my record label is like my child. So, that was hard for both of us.
“And she knew that it was hard for me. She even questioned the guys in the room why they had to involve me in that. All of us started crying. It was hard.”
The music executive also dismissed claims that Mavin Records gives preferential treatment to some artistes over others.
