The song, titled “Dai Dai,” features the Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy.

The announcement came via a joint video shared on Thursday by Shakira, Burna Boy, and FIFA.

In the clip, Shakira performs energetic choreography alongside a team of dancers at Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium, with the dancers’ outfits reflecting the colours of the participating nations.

‘Dai Dai’ carries a message of resilience and inner strength. It is a catchy reggaetón-tinged Afrobeats song that perfectly blends both Shakira and Burna’s musical worlds.

“You from the day you were born/ here in the space you belong … what broke you once, made you strong,” she sings.

The full track is set for release on May 14.

This marks Shakira’s return to World Cup music after 12 years — following the timeless ‘Waka, Waka (This Time for Africa)’ recorded for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

A reworked version of the song titled ‘La La La (Brazil 2014)’ was released on May 27 as the second theme song for the 2014 World Cup Official Album.
