Choi Sooyoung, a member of Girls’ Generation and an actress, is set to participate in a charity marathon supporting the visually impaired.

The event, titled the 12th Harmony Marathon with the Visually Impaired, will take place on June 13 KST at Pyeonghwa Plaza in Seoul’s World Cup Park. Sooyoung is scheduled to attend the event and personally take part in the race.

As a longtime ambassador for the Campaign Against Blindness, Sooyoung has consistently supported individuals living with visual impairments and hereditary retinal diseases. Her advocacy has been deeply personal, as her father has been battling retinitis pigmentosa, a rare degenerative eye condition, for more than 15 years.

In 2023, Sooyoung donated 300 million KRW(~200,000 USD) to support research and development efforts aimed at finding treatments for retinal diseases. She has since remained actively involved in awareness campaigns and fundraising initiatives related to vision care.

The upcoming marathon is designed to bring together visually impaired and non-disabled participants through sport and community engagement. Organizers stated that all proceeds from the event will be used to support welfare and assistance programs for visually impaired individuals.

Through her continued involvement, Sooyoung is once again drawing attention to an important cause while encouraging greater awareness and support for those affected by vision-related conditions.
