Lim Ji Yeon talks about the tattoo she wants to remove: "Regretting a choice made at 20"

Actress Lim Ji Yeon recently shared her plans to undergo a procedure to remove her long-standing eyeliner tattoo, revealing a relatable story of youthful impulsivity and professional necessity.

On April 30, Lim Ji Yeon appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel 'Jo Hyun Ah’s Thursday Night,' where she candidly discussed her goals for her upcoming break from acting. Top of the list? Finally getting rid of her permanent makeup.

Lim explained that the tattoo dates back to her college days. "I got semi-permanent makeup when I was 20," she shared. "At the time, I didn't know how to apply makeup, so I thought it would be easier if it were just there permanently. I got it with a classmate in front of our school, but it seems more 'permanent' than 'semi-permanent.' It’s still pitch black and hasn't faded at all."

Host Jo Hyun Ah noted that such a distinct look must be difficult for various acting roles. Lim agreed, stating, "I have to manually cover it up for period dramas or scenes where the character shouldn't have eyeliner. I heard it can be removed with a laser, but the swelling is severe and requires a long recovery period. Because I haven't had a break, I haven't been able to do it. As soon as filming ends, I'm going for it."

Lim Ji Yeon is currently preparing for the premiere of her upcoming SBS drama, 'The Brave New World,' scheduled for May.

The conversation took a personal turn when Jo Hyun Ah confessed that she, too, wishes to remove several tattoos scattered across her body. When asked by Lim Ji Yeon why she got them in the first place, Jo revealed they were born out of a desire to rebel.

"My tattoos were a form of rebellion," Jo admitted. She even linked her defiant spirit to her song "Give You," saying it was her way of shouting, "I'm going to do whatever I want!"

Lim Ji Yeon expressed her deep admiration for Jo Hyun Ah’s bold spirit, particularly her "Give It" performances. "We get so exhausted by social life and the world," Lim Ji Yeon said. "When I come home and lie in bed, I look up your performances. Seeing you look so happy and doing exactly what you want to do looks incredibly cool to me."
