Netflix unveils chilling trailer for 'Mousetrap' starring Ryu Jun Yeol and Sul Kyung Gu

Actor Ryu Jun Yeol and Sul Kyung Gu embark on a bizarre hunt in Netflix's upcoming mystery thriller.

On July 31, Netflix confirmed that its new original series 'Mousetrap' (written by Lee Jae Gon and directed by Kim Hong Sun) will premiere globally on August 28, while also unveiling its first poster and official trailer.

Inspired by the Korean folktale 'The Field Mouse That Ate Fingernails,' 'Mousetrap' follows a man whose entire identity and life are stolen by a mysterious rat-like figure. Determined to reclaim what was taken from him, he begins a desperate search for the truth behind the creature.

The newly released poster features Moon Jae (played by Ryu Jun Yeol) staring intently into the distance with a grim expression. Beside him appears another face alongside the silhouette of a rat, hinting at the blurred line between reality and deception.

The tagline, "If I can't prove it, I become the fake," teases the psychological battle at the heart of the series, raising questions about identity and hidden truths.

The trailer offers a glimpse into Moon Jae's unraveling life. Once a reclusive writer, he discovers the existence of the mysterious rat and ventures back into the world in a desperate attempt to reclaim his stolen life.

Helping—or perhaps complicating—his journey is loan shark No Ja (played by Sul Kyung Gu), who ominously tells him, "This is a damn game where you have to find yourself," adding another layer of intrigue to the mystery.

The series is directed by Kim Hong Sun, known for his work on genre dramas such as 'Dear Hongrang' and 'Voice,' with the screenplay written by Lee Jae Gon.

Netflix's 'Mousetrap' premieres worldwide on August 28.
