by K-Soul · allkpopSBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Agent Kim Reactivated' got off to a strong start, recording a nationwide viewership rating of 9.5% for its premiere.
The first episode aired on June 26, according to Nielsen Korea, making it the highest-rated premiere for a miniseries this year.
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, 'Agent Kim Reactivated' is an action drama that follows an ordinary father who transforms into the world's most dangerous man to rescue his only daughter.
So Ji Sub stars as Kim Bu Jang, an accountant at Sangsaeng Savings Bank who has been raising his daughter, Min Ji (played by Seo Su Min), on his own. The premiere initially portrays him as a gentle and devoted father leading an ordinary life.
The story takes a dark turn when Kim Bu Jang discovers that Min Ji has been a victim of school bullying. After she fails to return home overnight, he finds bloodstains and the hair tie of Joo Hye Ri (played by Yoo Ji An) at an empty lot, signaling that his daughter has disappeared.
As Kim Bu Jang begins searching for Min Ji, his hidden past is revealed. Once known by the codename 66, he was a legendary special operations agent with 17 classified North Korean infiltration missions to his name. Removing his glasses, he confronts those involved, demanding, "Where is my Min Ji?"
The premiere also teased So Ji Sub's signature action sequences while highlighting the emotional bond between father and daughter. Often described as the Korean version of Taken, the series centers on a father's desperate fight to save his child.
Episode 2 of 'Agent Kim Reactivated' will air on June 27 at 9:50 PM KST on SBS.
