Lee Seo Jin opened up about the challenges of his first theater performance, even joking about retirement.

On April 7, Lee Seo Jin attended the press conference for the play ‘Uncle Vanya’ at LG Arts Center Seoul in Gangseo gu. The event was joined by executive producer Lee Hyun Jung, director Son Sang Kyu, and actress Go Ah Sung.

‘Uncle Vanya,’ a classic work by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, is one of the most frequently performed plays worldwide. The production explores the lives of ordinary individuals whose routines are disrupted, bringing emotional depth to themes of family, sacrifice, and change.

Despite the prestige of the project, Lee Seo Jin candidly shared his struggles. “At first, I turned it down,” he said, explaining that he only accepted the role after hearing positive feedback from those around him and being impressed by the staff’s passion.

However, he admitted, “I regret it. It’s so hard,” drawing laughter from the audience. He added, “I think this might be my last project,”
hinting at how demanding the experience has been.

The play marks Lee Seo Jin’s first attempt at theater, making his honest remarks all the more relatable and attention grabbing.

‘Uncle Vanya’ will run from May 7 to May 31 at LG SIGNATURE Hall in LG Arts Center Seoul, featuring a single cast for all performances.
