AfreecaTV BJ reportedly extorts over $600,000 USD in cash and valuables from singer Kim Junsu through blackmail
by Susan-Han · allkpopAccording to a report by Munhwa Ilbo on November 15 KST, a female AfreecaTV BJ is facing investigation for extorting 840 million KRW (~ $600,000 USD) in cash and valuables from singer/musical actor Kim Junsu through blackmail.
Earlier on November 13 KST, the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police requested an arrest warrant for 'A', an AfreecaTV BJ, for charges of extortion. It's believed that 'A', who became acquainted with Kim Junsu in 2019, blackmailed the singer with a recording of their conversation beginning in September of 2020, threatening to expose the audio file via SNS. 'A' blackmailed Kim Junsu 101 times in total, extorting 840 million KRW from the musician.
During the investigation, 'A' reportedly admitted that the crime was committed in order to obtain funds for drug-related purchases. In fact, 'A' is currently on trial for a separate drug-related offense with the Seoul Central District Court.
